Yield management research through the analysis of scientific journals: preliminary results

The aim of this paper is to analyse articles relating to Yield Management published in a selection of journals at international level during the period 1996-2002. These will then subsequently be classified in accordance with List of Tourism Characteristic Products (drawn up by the World Tourism Organization and included in the Tourism Satellite Account), with a view to determining, on the one hand, which sectors data on Yield Management application is available for and, on the other, exploring new sectors that can be studied and researched. This paper forms part of a broader based paper which analyses publications relating to Yield Management in texts and monographs. The general goal of this line of research is to offer future researchers a methodical and exhaustive analysis of bibliography and research work done on the subject

Presenta los avances brasileros en el sector de telemática y en los sistemas de información, analizando los desafíos colocados por los archivos bancarios, del impuesto sobre la renta, de protección al crédito y de las “comunidades de información” política sobre la privacidad, movilidad y seguridad del individuo, dentro del binomio “información y control social”. Parte del presupuesto de que informatización no es una cuestión puramente tecnológica, del área de la informática, y resalta los aspectos políticos y sociales, sobre todo en sociedades autoritarias

Globalización y sistemas de información : nuevos paradigmas y nuevos desafíos

The simple expansion of the infrastructure Telematics would not be sufficient to surpass the serious problems of the benefit of information services, according to the requirements of a process of maintained development, for all the society, in righter and equitable bases. In effect, more emphasis in the flow of the information is put that in its effective use; the simple existence of the information is not guarantee for its distribution. The information is transformed into a value, in something abstract, independent of his suporte and requires new theoretical boardings and methodologic, new you practice and new tecnologies for its transformation and service. It discusses the problem of information like ideology, the globalization and the sprouting of the "virtual libraries", in a cybernetic space demanding great social adaptations, with its deployments in the political order, inside and between countries and regions of the world, with the replacement of the ideology by the technology. He concludes with some strategies in defense of the rights of the users and in the safeguard of the values of groups

Globalizacion y sistemas de informacion : nuevos paradigmas y nuevos desafios

A simples expansão da infra-estrutura telemática não seria suficiente para superar os graves problemas da oferta de serviços de informação, de acordo com os requerimentos de um processo de desenvolvimento sustentado para toda a sociedade, em bases mais justas e equitativas. Em verdade, põe-se mais ênfase no fluxo da informação que em seu uso efetivo; a simples existência da informação não é garantia para sua distribuição em termos social e politicamente corretos, enquanto que a posse ou privação do direito à informação configuraria uma espécie de imperialismo informacional (segundo Roberta Lamb). A informação transforma-se em um valor, em algo abstrato, independente de seu suporte e requer novas abordagens teóricas e metodológicos, novas práticas e novas tecnologias para seu ciclo de vida e de transformação. Discute o problema da informação como ideologia, sua globalização e o surgimento das “bibliotecas virtuais”no espaço cibernético, exigindo grandes adaptações sociais, com seus desdobramentos na ordem política, dentro e entre os países e regiões do mundo, segundo o conceito de “feudalismo informacional” (Peter Drahos), com a superação da ideologia pela tecnologia. Conclui com algumas estratégias na defesa dos direitos dos usuários e em salvaguarda dos valores e interesses de grupos, instituições e de regiões mais desfavorecidas. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe simple expansion of the telematic infrastructure would not be enough to overcome the grave problems of information services proivision, in accordance with the requirements of the sustained development process that would be more just and equitable for all of society. In truth, more emphais is being placed on information flow rather than on its effective use; the simple existence of information is no guarantee of its being disseminated in socially and politically correct terms, while the possession or privation of the right to information would constitute a type informational imperialism (according to Roberta Lamb). Information becomes a value, something abstract, independently of its support and calls for new theoretical and methodological approaches, new practices and new tecnologies for its life cycle and transformation. The article discusses the problem of information as ideology, its globalization and the rise of “virtual libraries” in cyberspace requiring widespread social adaptations, with its consequence in thye political sphere, within and among the countries and regions of the world, according to the concept of “informational feudalism” (Peter Drahos), with the overcoming of ideology by technology. Conclusions are drawn regarding some defense strategies for the users’ rights and for safeguarding the values and interests of less-favored groups, institutions, and regions

Os conceitos de organização baseada na informação e no conhecimento e o desenvolvimento de serviços bibliotecários

No âmbito das novas teorias da administração, este artigo discute os conceitos de organização baseada na informação (information based on organization), de Peter Drucker, e de organização baseada no conhecimento (lerning organization), de Peter M. Senge. Discute também os comentários de Shelley E. Phipps, relativos ao uso de ambos conceitos no planejamento de bibliotecas e analisa as metodologias relacionadas com o enfoque sistêmico, com a especialização do indivíduo, os modelos mentais, a visão compartilhada e os grupos de aprendizagem requeridos no contexto. Conclui com a revisão das “Leis da Quinta disciplina” de Senge e levanta questões pertinentes às organizações baseadas no conhecimento. ____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe information based organization and learning organization applied to library services development. Sociedade da informação : globalização, identidade cultural e conteúdos

Os conteúdos informacionais nas redes eletrônicas são analisados na perspectiva de seu impacto social e da promoção da identidade cultural. Considera a penetrabilidade e capilaridade das teconologias da informação um dos principais indicadores de desenvolvimento da sociedade da informação e defende a instalação de pontos de acesso à internet em bibliotecas públicas e escolares. Defende também o fomento à produção de conteúdos, seu registro e difusão nos âmbitos de governo, da sociedade pelos indivíduos, de forma a refletir as diversidades culturais e regionais, urbanas, periféricas e rurais, assim como o resgate da memória já registrada em língua portuguesa mas ainda não acessível. O documento foi elaborado com a participação de especialistas de todo o país e serviu de base para a redação do Capítulo 5 do Livro Verde do Programa Sociedade da Informação no Brasil - Socinfo. _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe informational contents in the electronic networks are analyzed from the point of view of its social impact and promotion of cultural identity. Penetration and capilarity of information technologies are considered as the main indicators of development of the information society and it argues on behalf of installing points of access to Internet in public and school libraries. It is also in favor of implementing production of contents, their records and diffusion within the government, of the society by individuals, in order to reflect the cultural and regional, urban, peripherical and rural diversities, as well as the retrieval of the memory already registered in the Portuguese Language, but not yet accessible. The document was written with the participation of experts from all parts of the country and is used as a basis for the elaboration of Chapter 5 of the Green Book of the Program Information Society in Brazil - SocInfo
